Across Australia, Neighbourhood and Community Centres play a vital role in strengthening social connection. They are often the first place people turn for support when facing isolation or navigating complex circumstances. At the same time, many are working under increasing pressure from juggling growing demand, increased accountability and limited resources.
Social Planet’s work is designed to ease this pressure. By reducing administrative burden, they help centres focus their time and energy where it matters most: supporting people and building community.
As a certified social enterprise, Social Planet joined Amplify Alliance to be part of a collective voice that reflects the realities of the NFP sector.
Their work is closely connected to the organisations they support, and they recognise the importance of strong, informed advocacy; particularly for community-based services that don’t always have the capacity to engage directly in policy conversations.
While still early in their membership, the value of this collective advocacy is already clear to Social Planet.
Amplify Alliance’s work with government helps ensure the role of Neighbourhood and Community Centres is better understood, particularly the impact they have in reducing social isolation and easing pressure on broader systems, including health services.
This matters at a time when many centres are being asked to do more with less. Having their contribution recognised and their challenges represented supports more informed decision-making at a policy level.
For Social Planet, being part of the Amplify Alliance network also brings a sense of connection to the broader NFP community they exist to serve. For a small organisation, that connection reinforces shared purpose and strengthens their ability to contribute to the sector.
